My name is Holly and I am a full-time mom to three daughters, eleven, nine and six years old, as well as one little boy, 20 months old. I am married to my high school sweetheart and soul mate. We have more memories together than apart.
Ours is a busy home, for sure. My children mean the world to me and I am very lucky to get to be at home with them. (“Home” meaning my minivan most days!) Being in the kitchen has always felt natural to me. I was allowed to help prepare meals with my Mom as soon as I was big enough to stand on a chair next to her. Through those early experiences, I developed a love for cooking and especially baking. Now that I am a wife and mother, I want to prepare the most nutritious and best-tasting foods possible for my family. That means I spend a lot of time in my kitchen, usually with three or four little helpers at my side. I also have an extensive vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes and herbs growing in every nook and cranny in my backyard. Each year there is less lawn to mow, which makes my husband happy.
Creating good food is a passion of mine and I’m always on the look-out for the next best way to cook or bake something. I find that researching recipes, measuring, mixing, and paying attention to the details involved with preparing from-scratch foods gives my brain a way to stretch beyond Sesame Street and finger paint. I collect cook books, subscribe to multiple food magazines and read a lot of blogs, all in the name of finding a terrific recipe. I’m thrilled that Hodgson Mill has given me the opportunity to share with you what I’ve learned about cooking, baking and creating healthy foods my family loves to eat.
