Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies with Nutella®

Hazelnut happens to be one of my favorite flavors, and Nutella® is among one of my favorite ways to enjoy it. I love to slather this chocolate hazelnut butter on whole wheat toast, drizzle it into my steel cut oats or swirl a spoonful into plain yogurt. The combination is simply heavenly. When I came across this recipe for chocolate chip cookies (one of my other favorite foods) that incorporates both Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Flour and Nutella®, I knew I had to make it. Read More »

Butterscotch White Whole Wheat Cookies

Ho! Ho! Ho! We’re in full holiday mode at my house and we’ve picked up the pace to bake as many of our favorite cookies as we can before Christmas is over. So many to choose from and so little time left! These Butterscotch White Whole Wheat Cookies were next on our list, and although they may not have a fancy name, they sure make up for it in taste. They’re filled with butterscotch chips and dry-roasted cashews that create a fantastic salty-sweet combination in each bite. You’ll never guess that there’s Hodgson Mill White Whole Wheat Flour in these cookies. The texture, a little more robust than white flour but less hearty than Hodgson Mill’s traditional whole wheat flour, is spot on. Paired with the chopped cashews, the taste is so mild it nearly goes undetected in the buttery, sweet dough. I knew I couldn’t let the season pass without baking up a batch of these tasty cookies! Read More »

English Muffin Bread with Quick Homemade Strawberry Preserves

If you are a fan of the circular English muffins that come from the grocery store, you will love this bread even more. It has all of the same English muffin taste wrapped up into simple, good-for-you, whole wheat yeast bread. One of the best parts about this bread is that it only needs to rise once, so it takes half the time to make than a traditional yeast bread recipe. It also makes two loaves – a total bonus in my book. You can choose to eat one loaf right away and freeze the other for another time, or like in my house, the day after the first loaf is devoured.  Read More »

Apples & More Muesli Breakfast Cookies

Cookies for breakfast. Sounds like a good idea to me; especially if they have oatmeal in them because then it’s practically like eating cereal, right? Well, you’re in luck! These cookies do have cereal in them – Hodgson Mill Apples & More Muesli which is made up of delicious ingredients like sweet apple chunks, raisins, oats, sunflower seeds and flax seed just to mention a few. If that didn’t whet your appetite, these cookies also have whole wheat, quinoa, honey, dried cranberries and slivered almonds. When all is said and done, these breakfast cookies are so loaded with healthy ingredients they can’t help but be good for you. Read More »

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Waffles with Blueberry-Maple Sauce

They are super tasty on their own with a little butter and maple syrup, but even better served with some blueberry maple sauce (see recipe below). I love that these waffles are filled with whole grains like oatmeal and Hodgson Mill White Whole Wheat Flour. Not only are my kids thrilled to have a delicious hot breakfast, but I can start their day off with good nutrition to boot. Let’s hear it for us Moms! Read More »

White Whole Wheat Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

As the holidays get closer, it seems like my oven is on 24/7. My daughters and I spend a lot of time baking all kinds of good things for ourselves or to share with our family and friends. Walk in the front door and you’re bound to smell something amazing coming from the kitchen. One of our favorite things to make is cookies. We love them in all different shapes and sizes, soft or crispy, chewy or crunchy. Cookies are a good thing. Sometimes though, it feels like we’re on butter and sugar overload, so I like to make these cinnamon sugar cookies using Hodgson Mill White Whole Wheat flour to bring a little bit of whole grain nutrition into the mix. Good for you cookies are a great thing. Read More »
