Spicy Basil Shrimp Fettuccine

In less than half an hour, you could be sitting down to late-winter comfort food at its best: warm sauce and pasta with enough spice to wake you up and make you think of the approaching spring and summer. This is the perfect dish for a weeknight meal or a Lenten Friday supper. Read More »

Gluten-Free Linguine with Artichokes, Sundried Tomatoes and Arugula

Need a go-to healthy gluten free entree that’s easy enough for a weeknight dinner, but definitely fancy enough for casual entertaining? I’ve got you covered with this Gluten-Free Linguine with Artichokes, Tomatoes and Arugula. What’s even more brilliant is that this entree comes together in about half an hour and all but one ingredient (the arugula) come in jars and boxes you can keep in a cupboard to pull out at a moment’s notice. Gluten Free Chocolate Tarts with Chocolate-Hazelnut Mousse

I will make no apologies for the decadence of this recipe. Sometimes, baking needs to be an out-and-out splurge – even gluten-free baking. (Calories don’t count on Valentine’s Day, right?) I just adore the combination of hazelnut and chocolate.: chocolate hazelnut spreads, Baci® chocolates, anything that combines the sweet nuttiness of hazelnut with dark, rich chocolate. . . I can’t resist it. I’ve tried.  Read More »

Pear Buckwheat Pancakes with Honey Ricotta and Ginger

Nothing says hearty breakfast like buckwheat pancakes packed with satisfying protein, fiber and nutrients. Buckwheat is actually a fruit seed, not a cereal grain (who knew?). Besides having a delicious, earthy, wholesome taste, it contains nutrients that can help regulate blood sugar and reduce the risk of diabetes, and can also promote cardiovascular health, actually strengthening capillary walls. It also has tons of minerals and antioxidants. In short, it’s packed with good stuff, and all the good stuff finds its way, along with real whole wheat flour, into Hodgson Mill Buckwheat Pancake Mix.  Read More »

Gluten Free Tropical Sunrise Buckwheat Cereal

Buckwheat cereal on its own tastes lightly nutty and pleasantly earthy. The tropical explosion comes from using coconut milk as a base for the cereal and by mixing in creamy mashed banana as the sweetener. Chunks of tart-sweet pineapple create an unexpected but perfect contrast to the light, smooth buckwheat cereal. And get this — this recipe is not only gluten-free, it’s vegan. Gasp! You don’t have to be hardcore on either of those fronts to enjoy it, though. Read More »

Gluten Free Plum Anise Bar Cookies

Crispy on the outside, soft and delicate and crumbly on the inside, with chewy bits of dried plum and a light sweet anise perfume—these little morsels fit the bill for any holiday gifting. It’s almost like shortbread, crumbly and sweet, but the moist fruit is a delicious surprise inside. Read More »

Coconut Custard Pie with Whole Grain Crust

Custard pie is a natural for breakfast (or any other time, for that matter). It’s even more of a natural when you replace the sugar with maple syrup, and surround it with this delicious, nutty-tasting whole-grain crust. Deep and earthy Hodgson Mill Rye Flour and the subtle sweetness of Hodgson Mill Oat Bran Cereal and Whole Wheat Pastry Flour are balanced with just the right amount of butter, making a crisp, melt-in-your-mouth crust that cradles the cool, custardy coconut filling. Read More »

Savory Sweet Potato and Cannelini Bean Pie with Whole Wheat Olive Oil Crust

I’ve been experimenting. My philosophy is, start with good ingredients that you love, and whatever you make can’t be all bad. (Within reason: I’m not advocating for shrimp in chocolate sauce or anything.) But how about sweet potatoes, with rosemary and goat cheese? Sign me up. I knew I was getting close to something great with this pie when one of my taste testers said, “Oh, wow. I could eat this several times a day.” Whoohoo! Read More »

Butternut Squash Macaroni and Cheese

I’ve combined two of my favorite comfort foods – mac and cheese, and roasted butternut squash. I love how the butternut squash adds tons of Vitamin A and C, along with extra creaminess and its bright orange color, to the sauce. The delicious Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Elbow Macaroni (Or Gluten-Free Brown Rice Elbows, if you prefer) are much more robust and better for you than regular white flour pasta elbows, and they really grab onto the cheesy, creamy sauce. It’s truly a feast for all the senses. Read More »
