Hodgson Mill ‘Have a Grain Holiday!’ Recipe Contest Official Rules

 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. The Hodgson Mill ‘Have a Grain Holiday!’ Contest (the “Contest”) is intended for viewing and participation in the 50 United States, or District of Columbia and shall be governed solely by U.S. law. Contest begins on or about 12:01:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”)  November 8, 2013 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on December 15, 2013 (the “Contest Period”). Sponsor’s clock shall be the official time clock of the Contest.

 

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their state of residence at time of entry, whichever is older, and who are bloggers who own, operate, and maintain a food-related and/or baking- or cooking-related blog(s) (the “Entrants”).  Entrants must have a currently active blog with a currently live URL. Employees, officers, directors and agents of Hodgson Mill, Inc., (the “Sponsor”), and its parent companies, affiliates, agencies, and subsidiaries and members of such employees’ immediate families and individuals living in the same household with such employees, officers, directors or agents, are not eligible to participate or win. Sponsor’s decisions regarding blogger eligibility shall be final.

 

REGISTRATION:  To enter the Contest, and prior to submitting a recipe, each Entrant must complete and submit accurate registration information set forth below (the “Registration”) via email to:  marie@americanpopdigital.com before 11/18/2013. Your email must include:

  • The subject line 2013 “Have a GRAIN” Holiday  Contest Registration

  • Your name, street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state, zip code, primary phone number, email address, the active Web address (URL) of your blog and your blogger screen name, if any.

  • A link to a Facebook share, Twitter tweet, or blog post sharing a link to our online Coupon for $1.00 off any 5 lb. bag of Hodgson Mill flour.

 

Only the first 50 eligible Registrations received will be accepted – first come, first servc. Determination of first 50 eligible Registrations received shall be at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Limit one Registration per person during the Contest Period. Registrants must read and certify your agreement with these Official Rules as part of your Registration.. 

 

Qualified eligible Entrants who submit an accepted Registration per these Official Rules will receive a 5 lb. bag of Hodgson Mill White Whole Wheat Flour, a 2 lb. bag of Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Pastry Flour, AND a 2lb. bag of Hodgson Mill Organic Naturally White Unbleached Flour to use in creating a recipe for the Contest. Samples will be delivered to the street address submitted with the Registration. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, or undeliverable samples. 

 

CREATE A CONTEST ENTRY (THE “ENTRY”):  1) During the Contest Period, after receiving notice that your Registration has been accepted, submit an Entry recipe, using standard U.S. measurements, for a bread or dessert recipe appropriate for serving at a holiday gathering or giving as a holiday gift: including, but not limited to, breads, pies, cakes, brownies, muffins or cookies. 2) Entry recipes MUST use Hodgson Mill White Whole Wheat Flour. Can also use Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Pastry Flour; Hodgson Mill Organic Naturally White Unbleached Flour in addition. 3) Recipes should list ingredients/quantities needed, bake ware or cookware needed, step-by-step instructions for preparation, any keywords describing the recipe, serving size, preparation time, and cooking time/temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. 4) Recipe must use standard home kitchen ware and utensils; must use commonly available ingredients found in most supermarkets or natural food stores; and must only use common and readily obtainable or generally available produce, spices or flavorings. 5) Create an original title or name for your Entry submission of not more than 50 characters. 6) Participating bloggers will be supplied with certificates for $25 of Hodgson Mill products to use as rewards for your blog readers (“blog giveaway”). 7) You must supply a photograph or photographs of your finished/prepared Entry in .jpeg format with a maximum file size of 5mb. Limit one Entry per person during the Contest Period.

All Contest Entries must be received electronically via email at: marie@americanpopdigital.com by 11:59:59 p.m. ET on December 15, 2013. Use the subject line “Have GRAIN Holiday” Recipe Contest when submitting the email containing your recipe. Email must also include:

  • A link to your recipe post (posted in full on your blog)
  • A link to our “25 Days of Grain Holiday” Sweepstakes
  • A link to a coupon good for $1 off any purchase of any 5LB bag of Hodgson Mill flour
  • A photograph or photographs of your finished/prepared Entry in .jpeg format with a maximum file size of 5mb

 A maximum of 50 Entries will be accepted. If the maximum number of Entries is reached before the end of the Contest Period, Sponsor will post notice at www.hodgsonmill.com/OurCommunity/grainholidaycontestresults[TT8]  and/or will notify potential Entrants via phone. Any attempt by an Entrant to enter more than once using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and/or logins, or any other methods will void that Entrant’s Entries and that Entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. All Entries submitted must be the original creation of the Entrant, must be in English and cannot have been previously published in any medium or submitted in any other competition or contest. By submitting an Entry, Entrant represents and warrants that:  the Entry submitted is the creation of the Entrant; the Entry contains no lewd, obscene, offensive, defamatory, threatening, harassing or otherwise unlawful material; that no laws were broken in the creation and/or submission of the Entry; the Entry has never been previously published or submitted in any other competition; the Entry does not violate or infringe any copyright, trademark or other proprietary or privacy right of any person or entity; and the Entry is the exclusive property and creation of the Entrant. If an Entrant breaches any of these warranties or any of the Contest Rules, he or she is solely responsible for any claims arising from the breach, and violation of any of the warranties shall be cause for disqualification. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entry containing content that Sponsor deems inappropriate or unsuitable, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.  Entrants agree to indemnify, defend and hold Sponsor, and its affiliate companies, parent companies, subsidiaries, officers, directors, and agents harmless against any and all liabilities, losses, damages, claims, debts, investigations, fines, penalties, costs, expenses and settlements (including attorneys' fees and costs of litigation, settlement, judgment, interest and penalties) arising out of or related to a breach of the foregoing representations and warranties.

 

PRIVACY:  Personally identifiable information submitted by Entrants such as name, address, phone number or email address, will only be used by the Sponsor for the purposes of administering the Contest, processing the Contest entries and verifying Contest Entry information.  Sponsor will not sell or share your personal information with any third party.  

 

LICENSE:   All Entrants in the Contest who submit a contest Entry (notwithstanding if the Entry is ultimately deemed to be an eligible, valid Entry, or if Entry is selected as a finalist or winner) grant Sponsor, including its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries directors, printers, advertising and promotion agencies, agents, successors and assigns, and anyone authorized by them (“Licensees”), a non-exclusive universal and perpetual right and license to make, use, exploit, print, publish, broadcast, reproduce, display, distribute and modify the Entry (including title/name and photograph, if any)  as well as any other works derivative of Entry in any manner, formats and media now known or hereafter developed without additional consideration or compensation. This license shall not affect Entrants’ right to use the Entry for his/her own personal or professional use.  Entrant agrees not to use the Entry for commercial purposes not specified herein. Entrant may not transfer retained rights in Entry to any third-party other than Sponsor without Sponsor’s prior written permission. Entrants must sign a written license agreement acknowledging these license terms.

JUDGING CRITERIA/SCORING ROUND:  Hodgson Mill employees, and other qualified judges (the “Judges”) selected by Sponsor will score each Entry. Eligible Entries received during the Contest Period will be judged based on the following criteria:

 

CATEGORY 1: Best Tasting (as decided by the Hodgson Mill judging team):

1) Overall appeal and harmony in your combination of flavors and textures (20 points maximum).

2) Originality: How well do you highlight new ways to use available ingredients (10 points maximum).

3) Appropriateness to the Hodgson Mill brand, i.e. how well does your recipe reflect the personality of Hodgson Mill – “healthy eating that tastes great” (20 points maximum).

 4) Is the entry appropriate for holiday gatherings and/or holiday gift-giving (20 points maximum).

5) Ease of preparation: a home baker with average baking skills should be able to make this recipe and expect good results (20 points maximum).

6) Up to five (5) bonus points will be awarded for use of additional Hodgson Mill products (one (1) point per additional product) beyond the required White Whole Wheat.  In the event of a tie, all tied entries will be scored again based on the compelling use of an Entrant’s title or name for his or her recipe (20 points maximum). Judges’ decisions are final.

 

CATEGORY 2: Best Presentation (photograph as featured in your blog):

1) Visual harmony – seasonal colors, great texture (20 points maximum).

2) Originality: How well do you highlight new ways to use available ingredients (10 points maximum).

3) Appropriateness to the Hodgson Mill brand, i.e. how well does your recipe reflect the personality of Hodgson Mill – “healthy eating that tastes great” (20 points maximum).

 4) Is the entry appropriate for holiday gatherings and/or holiday gift-giving (20 points maximum).

5) Ease of preparation: a home baker with average baking skills should be able to make this recipe and expect good results (20 points maximum).

6) Up to five (5) bonus points will be awarded for use of additional Hodgson Mill products (one (1) point per additional product) beyond the required White Whole Wheat.  In the event of a tie, all tied entries will be scored again based on the compelling use of an Entrant’s title or name for his or her recipe (20 points maximum). Judges’ decisions are final.

 

 

JUDGING CRITERIA/FINAL WINNER SELECTION: The final selection of winners will be determined by a panel of Hodgson Mill test-kitchen bakers (the “Panel”) selected at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.  Based on the Judges scores as detailed above in the Scoring Round, the Panel may, at the Panel’s sole discretion, prepare/test selected recipes and will judge prepared recipes based on the taste, appearance, texture, creativity, and appropriateness for a holiday gathering of each prepared/tested Entry. A maximum of 20 additional points will be awarded by the Panel based on the preparation/testing, if any.  Final selection of winners will be determined by the total number of points awarded to each Entry, per category, by the combined scores of the Judges and the Panel. The First Prize will be awarded to the Entrant with the highest score; the Second Prize will be awarded to the Entrant with the second highest score; the Third Prize will be awarded to the Entrant with the third highest score.

 

Awarding of prizes is subject to verification of Entry, eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Potential winners will be announced on or about January 30, 2014. Sponsor will attempt to notify potential winner by phone and/or email on or about January 30, 2014.

 

PRIZES:  Prizes will be awarded in Two Categories:

CATEGORY 1: Best Tasting (as decided by the Hodgson Mill judging team):

  1. First Prize: One (1) Empire Red 6 quart bowl- lift KitchenAid Mixer

  2. Second Prize: One (1) $200 gift card from Williams-Sonoma

  3. Third Prize: One (1) $100 gift certificate from Williams-Sonoma

CATEGORY 2: Best Presentation (photograph as featured in your blog):

  1. First Prize: One (1) iPad2 16 GB, Wi-Fi capable

  2. Second Prize: One (1) $200 gift card from Williams-Sonoma

  3. Third Prize: One (1) $100 gift certificate from Williams-Sonoma

 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO PRIZES: Gift certificates are subject to terms and conditions listed thereon. All prizes will be awarded provided a sufficient number of eligible entries are received. Prize details and availability are subject to change, in which case, unless otherwise specified herein, a prize of equal or greater value will be substituted at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prizes are not transferable. No substitutions or cash redemptions except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Each winner is responsible for any applicable fees, federal, state and local taxes, if any, and any other unspecified expenses associated with acceptance or use of prize. Prizes are provided “as is” and without any warranty of any kind. Limit one prize per person.

 

CLAIMING PRIZES: All Entrants in the Contest who submit a contest Entry (notwithstanding if the Entry is ultimately deemed to be an eligible, valid Entry, or if Entry is selected as a winner) must complete, sign and return the Affidavit of Eligibility, License, Waiver of Liability and, except where prohibited by law, Publicity Release Forms (collectively, “Release Forms”) within 10 business days of receipt. (Tennessee residents need not sign the publicity releases). In the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, if any prize notification or attempted notification is returned as undeliverable, if winner is deemed ineligible for any reason or prize winner declines prize offered, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the Entrant with the next highest score at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor will attempt to send prizes directly to winners at the addresses provided at the time of entry. If any prize is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and awarded to Entrant with the next highest score.

 

CONDITIONS:  By participating in the Contest, all participants acknowledge compliance with and agree to be bound by these Official Rules, the decisions of Sponsor and/or judges, which are final in all respects, and all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

 Submitted Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor, its affiliate companies, parent company, subsidiaries, their respective officers, directors and agents are not responsible for technical errors or lost, late, unintelligible, misdirected, incomplete, damaged or garbled Entries, registration forms, the Release Forms or any other documents. Sponsor, its affiliate companies, parent companies, subsidiaries, officers, directors and agents are not responsible for any: (a) telephone, computer, hardware, software or programming malfunctions or errors or interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, network malfunction or other technical failures or errors; (b) communication disruption or other forces beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor, including inability to access the Contest Website or email address, submit Entries or other disruption related to Internet traffic, virus, bug or non-authorized intervention; (c) damage caused by computer virus or otherwise resulting to any computer from Entrant's access of the Contest Website or email server, whether human, mechanical or electronic, or (d) incorrect or inaccurate information whether caused by Contest Website users or by any of the programming or equipment associated with or used in the Contest. If such malfunction, error, disruption or damage occurs, and/or impairs the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper execution of the Contest and/or Contest is otherwise not capable of running as planned, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, suspend the Contest for the remainder of the Contest Period or terminate any or all of the Contest by posting a notice at www.hodgsonmill.com/ourcommunity/grainholidaycontestresults. If the Contest is suspended during the Contest Period, Sponsor will determine winners from among all eligible entries received as of the suspension date. In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an Entry, the Entry will be deemed submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the email address in question. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest, or whom Sponsor believes to be causing malfunction, error, disruption or damage. Sponsor further reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify multiple entries from the same person or made through robotic, automatic, mechanical, programmed or similar entry duplication method and to disqualify any individual using such a method.
