Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a medium size bowl, blend together the wheat bran, flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Cream together the sugar, butter, vanilla, and egg until smooth then blend in milk.
Now add dry ingredients and chocolate chips to the creamed mixture and stir until just moistened. Spoon the batter into lightly greased muffin cups about 3/4 full. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 - 22 minutes or until done. Remove muffins from the pan and let cool on a rack or serve warm.
