Italian Meat Sauce

This sauce is hearty and easy to make. Pair it with your favorite pasta for the perfect dinner.


  • 1/2lb. italian sausage, bulk
  • 1lb. ground beef
  • 2 onions, medium, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, medium, chopped
  • 1 15oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 28oz.can whole tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 6oz. can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 4oz. can mushrooms, drained, sliced
  • 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper


In a large skillet, brown sausage, and beef until no longer pink; drain. Add onion and green pepper cook until tender, about 5 minutes. .  Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, water, mushrooms, Italian seasoning, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and pepper; bring to a boil.  Reduce heat; simmer  20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve sauce over 1 pkg. (16oz) hot cooked Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Spaghetti.
