Lightly Carmeled Bran Cake



Combine water and bran.  Let stand 2 to 3 minutes while creaming the margarine and sugars.  Add egg whites, vanilla and bran mixture.   Beat well.  Add flour, cinnamon, soda and salt.  Mix well.  Pour into greased and floured 9x9 inch pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.


Combine topping ingredients and spread on hot cake.


Broil until bubbly (about 2-3 minutes).
