Part Time Seasonal Retail Associate for Hodgson Mill Retail Store "The MILL"

In order to provide a great shopping experience and excellent service during this busy holiday season Hodgson Mill Store is looking to hire an additional part time associate.  This individual must provide outstanding customer service and maintain a positive attitude.  Retail experience is a plus.

Education Center Instructor

Department: Sales and Marketing

Date: April 6, 2015


We are seeking enthusiastic and professional instructors to lead baking and/or cooking classes at our Effingham IL location. Candidates need to have experience with baking and/or cooking; be comfortable leading and presenting to a group; have great communication skills; and the work ethic to assist with development and creation of classes for our customers. Classes could include Adult or Child participants in either Demonstration and/or Hands on programs.

 This position will be accountable for overseeing and implementing all Hodgson Mill Standards of Professional Appearance plus understand all food Safety and Serve Safe Sanitation Programs. Position will be classified as an independent contractor (1099).


  • Lead Instructor in an approved HMI class.
  • Able to articulate, demonstrate and instruct class while maintaining professional demeanor, using time management skills and establishing rapport with attendees.
  • Able to follow recipe format while demonstrating the proper techniques.
  • Respond to consumer inquiries regarding class material.
  • Coordinate with HMI personnel on class needs including materials, ingredients, equipment, and etc. prior to class times.
  • Maintain record-keeping systems as designated by HMI.
  • Adhere to the company drug and alcohol policy
  • Assist in developing and maintaining all training programs and records.
  • Other duties as required such as assistance with clean up.
  • Abide by Food Safety policies and assist with training and traceability.


  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing Serve Safe and Sanitation practices.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills (one-on-one and in a group setting)
  • General knowledge skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other general computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of Food preparation with extra focus on HMI product family.
  • Must exercise independent judgment and decision-making.  
  • Proven ability to handle priority and sensitive information in a confidential manner. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Pleasant personality, team oriented and enjoys working with and assisting people.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
  • Understands and respects sensitive nature of information and manage this responsibly with great care so that situations and complex tasks are handled discreetly, effectively and efficiently.
  • Must have strong project management skills and ability to set objectives, manage multiple priorities, organize time and identify resources for individual and group projects.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Food Handling Experience and/or Teaching Background.
  • Serve Safe Sanitation Skills a plus.
  • Dietician and/or Nutritional training a plus.
