Manufacturing Plant

Our Manufacturing Facility is State of the Art and all production employees are required to abide by strict Food Safety guidelines (no jewelry on production floor, hairnets and beardnets required; follow best practices for dedicated allergen-free areas). We maintain three work shifts. Long periods of standing, repetitive motions, or occasional heavy lifting may be required depending on the position.

Full Time Product Development Technologist 

Department:  Quality Assurance

This position is responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions for our current and future products.  

Food Safety, Food Defense and Sanitation


Develop new products and innovations through all stages of product introduction (concept, bench top, sensory testing, plant trial, nutritional verification) while staying within specified parameters (cost, label claims) 
Operate and maintain analytical equipment for the trials 
Ability to run production tests to check if a product is viable and/or reformulate current products to improve quality  
Coordinate logistics for raw materials and sample delivery/acquisition 
Clear documentation and presentation of all performance testing 
Maintenance of all product labeling 
Provide technical product specifications and related documentation for our product line to consumers and customers


1. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with food science major or related experience
2. Good understanding of food chemistry, microbiology and basic lab principles
3. Experience in all phases of the product development process
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with many departments such as Sales & Marketing, Production and Quality Assurance 
5. Successful experience in laboratory work specifically in the area of food grade plant is preferred.
6. Dexterity and preciseness required operating gauges and testing equipment.
7. Strong computer skills
8. Ability to communicate on all levels
9. Quality minded individual who could handle independent working with routine tasks.
10. Able to handle multiple projects with varied time lines 

11. Candidates with Registered Dietitian (RD) license or who are RD-eligible are preferred.

Part Time Retail Team Member for "The MILL"

As a primary contact for the Hodgson Mill Retail Store, “The Mill”, Store Personnel provide friendly, courteous, and helpful customer service on a daily basis to provide a positive shopping experience. The Store Personnel are also responsible for daily operations in the store.  Available flexible hours including Saturday and limited evening hours.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

1. Customer Interaction to be top priority.  Able to positively acknowledge and interact with all customers.  Share product knowledge and address any questions that might arise or share questions with others who might be able to address the need.  Assist the customers with carry out if needed.

2. Sampling of food products daily.  Ability to follow directions, safety and sanitation aspects in dealing with recipes.  This includes tolerance of the ingredients of Hodgson Mill products.

3. Cash handling abilities to include customer purchases, freight processing and inventory control.  Daily accuracy and adherence to company security and cash control procedures.

4. Freight processing of daily shipments.  Stock handling of products in an organized manner.  Rotation of products via the date code.

5. Presentation of products to promote sales.  Ensure that shelves are kept stocked, clean and maintained daily.   

6. Sanitation standards maintained to company guidelines of organization and cleanliness.  Daily maintenance of the store including the restrooms.

7. Ensure that compliance with all federal, state, local agency, company policies and procedures are properly followed, including, security, safety, food handling and sanitation, weights and measures, refrigeration, wage and hour, etc.


1. High school diploma preferred.
2. Ability to climb an eight foot ladder.
3. Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds.

Education Center Instructor

We are seeking enthusiastic and professional instructors to lead baking and/or cooking classes at our Effingham IL location. Candidates need to have experience with baking and/or cooking; be comfortable leading and presenting to a group; have great communication skills; and the work ethic to assist with development and creation of classes for our customers. Classes could include Adult or Child participants in either Demonstration and/or Hands on programs.

 This position will be accountable for overseeing and implementing all Hodgson Mill Standards of Professional Appearance plus understand all food Safety and Serve Safe Sanitation Programs. Position will be classified as an independent contractor (1099).


  • Lead Instructor in an approved HMI class.
  • Able to articulate, demonstrate and instruct class while maintaining professional demeanor, using time management skills and establishing rapport with attendees.
  • Able to follow recipe format while demonstrating the proper techniques.
  • Respond to consumer inquiries regarding class material.
  • Coordinate with HMI personnel on class needs including materials, ingredients, equipment, and etc. prior to class times.
  • Maintain record-keeping systems as designated by HMI.
  • Adhere to the company drug and alcohol policy
  • Assist in developing and maintaining all training programs and records.
  • Other duties as required such as assistance with clean up.
  • Abide by Food Safety policies and assist with training and traceability.


  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing Serve Safe and Sanitation practices.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills (one-on-one and in a group setting)
  • General knowledge skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other general computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of Food preparation with extra focus on HMI product family.
  • Must exercise independent judgment and decision-making.  
  • Proven ability to handle priority and sensitive information in a confidential manner. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Pleasant personality, team oriented and enjoys working with and assisting people.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
  • Understands and respects sensitive nature of information and manage this responsibly with great care so that situations and complex tasks are handled discreetly, effectively and efficiently.
  • Must have strong project management skills and ability to set objectives, manage multiple priorities, organize time and identify resources for individual and group projects.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Food Handling Experience and/or Teaching Background.
  • Serve Safe Sanitation Skills a plus.
  • Dietician and/or Nutritional training a plus.
