Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancake Mix Places Highly in Prestigious Taste Test

Hodgson Mill’s Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancake Mix was tested in the Good Housekeeping Research Institute’s taste test of 14 different whole grain and buttermilk pancake mixes. The mix won runner-up in the ‘whole grain pancake mix’ category, an impressive achievement for product made by a small family-owned company.   “Corn meal gives this mix a “nice nuttiness,” said the volunteer taste testers, and the article also states that “some likened the texture to that of a corn muffin.”

“It’s great that a wholesome product made by a small family-owned company like ours placed so highly in this taste test,” says Brian, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Hodgson Mill. “The announcement came out of the blue – we had no idea they were testing whole grain pancake mixes – so it was a pleasant surprise! We already knew our product was good. We’re glad it’s been recognized. “

Hodgson Mill’s mix was the highest placing whole wheat mix. Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancake Mix is made with stone-ground whole wheat flour and corn meal, all produced and packaged in Hodgson Mill’s facility in Effingham, IL.  Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancake Mix also contains no soy (which is a major food allergen), unlike other mixes in the taste test, which means more people can enjoy its whole grain taste.

The Good Housekeeping Research Institute, “the foremost consumer products evaluation laboratory in the country,”  performs taste tests of many products in many different categories. Testing methods are proprietary, but rigorous. In order to be considered a product must be “nationally distributed and widely available.”

The results of the taste test appeared in the May 2014 edition of Good Housekeeping, and online at http://bit.ly/1mGjfs2.
