o Reread the recipe.
o Get out all the ingredients before starting.
o Get out all the equipment you will be using, and be sure everything is clean.
o Follow the recipe exactly.
o Use oven mittens or potholders around the stove and oven.
o Clean as you go along.

Crunchy Wheat Germ Granola
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup walnuts, chopped
3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup sunflower seeds, dry roasted
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup raisins or dried fruit, optional
1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 325°. Combine wheat germ, rolled oats, coconut, sunflower kernels, and nuts in a mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, mix oil, honey, vanilla and salt together. Pour over dry ingredients and mix completely. Pour mixture into roasting pan or edged cookie sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring often so mixture does not burn. Remove from oven to cool, stirring in raisins or dried fruit while still warm. Store in tightly covered container.
