Bake For Family Fun

Hodgson Mill celebrates “Bake for Family Fun” Month with a special heart healthy recipe. Oat Bran Muffins will start off your day with more protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals than most every day breakfast cereals. Spread with butter, honey, or your favorite jam or jelly for a delicious snack.
Discuss as a family the importance of eating whole grains. Read and compare labels to distinguish which products are whole grain and how to make the best selection.
Encourage children to teach their baking skills to others. Bake these muffins in heart shaped muffin pans and take to school for your child's Valentines Day's celebration treat.
Do children benefit from baking? Of course they do, here's how:
o Baking allows families to spend quality time together.
o Help children read the recipe, list and shop for necessary ingredients from the grocery store, arrange ingredients and utensils before baking, enjoy baked goods fresh from the oven.
o Measuring develops math skills and practices utilizing kitchen tools.
o Baking makes special memories that last a lifetime.
