Our Family Story

Where in the Ozarks Are We?

When Alva Hodgson first saw the place where he would build his now famous mill, it might have been the beauty of the Ozarks as much as the location itself that captured him. Found deep in the rolling tree-covered hills of the Ozarks on the far mid-southern edge of Missouri, the original mill is located just a few miles outside of the town of Gainesville. The surrounding area is famed for its meandering fishing streams and clear lakes, and the historic Hodgson Mill is still a popular tourist attraction.

Gainesville, where Hodgson Mill’s main milling operation is located, is a popular sporting and outdoor recreation base, and home to many of the employees who proudly make our whole grain foods. True to our roots, Hodgson Mill has remained in the Ozarks rather than relocating production elsewhere, and we’re still just a few miles down the road from the spring-fed waters that first caught Alva Hodgson’s eye so many years ago. Today's Hodgson Mill Family is just as devoted to maintaining the same old-fashioned values as Alva.
