How is it made? 
Corn starch is made by sifting out the starch (endosperm) of the corn kernel.

Storage Recommendation
Dry product may be stored at room temperature, in refrigerator, or in freezer at least until the code date on the package. 
Prepared product should be consumed within 1 week of preparation.

Tips & FAQ’s

Household uses for cornstarch: 

Removes grease stains on clothing and driveways. 

Laundry uses: removes blood stains from clothes, can be used to make a laundry starch spray.

Detangle knots in shoe laces and other ropes. Sprinkle with cornstarch.

Clean a sticky deck of cards. Place cards in a bag with 4 Tbsp. cornstarch, shake vigorously remove cards and wipe off excess cornstarch.

Play Clay; 1-1/4 cup water, 2 cups baking soda and 1 cup cornstarch

How can I be sure it is gluten free?  

We are currently certified gluten free under the National Celiac Association and we are in the process of changing to the Gluten Free Certification Organization. Both certifications help us guarantee that our products are far under the legal FDA limit of 20ppm (parts per million) gluten.


Is it considered whole grain? 


How do I use it as a thickener? 
Combine with a small amount of cold liquid and mix into a paste before adding to your recipe. Most recipes call for it to be heated to boiling, which activates the cornstarch.


What kind of corn does it come from?
Yellow corn.


How do I thicken with corn starch?
Dissolve corn starch in cold liquid first, then stir this mixture into the recipe. When the liquid comes to a boil, the starch will be at its full thickening power.


How much corn starch do I use to thicken a pie?
3-4 Tbsp. per pie.


Why will corn starch not thicken my fruit pie?
Acidic ingredients weaken the thickening power of corn starch. Try additional corn starch or add the corn starch at the last possible moment.

Why won’t my corn starch thicken?
Mixture is not at a boil or the mixture did not boil long enough or it boiled for too long.

Why do I have lumps in my gravy recipe?
The corn starch was not dissolved completely before heat was applied to the recipe. That is why we recommend mixing cornstarch with a small amount of cold water or milk before adding it to recipe and heating.


How do I replace flour with corn starch in a gravy/sauce recipe?
Use ½ as much corn starch as the recipe calls for. If the recipe calls for 2 Tbsp. flour, use 1 Tbsp. corn starch


Can I use it in gluten free baking?
Yes, it works well to create airy and tender gluten free baked goods in combination with other gluten free flours and starches.
