  • Sprinkle yeast on warm water; stir to dissolve.
  • Pour boiling water over butter or shortening in mixing bowl, stir in sugar, wheat bran and salt. Cool to lukewarm.
  • Beat egg and stir into dissolved yeast mixing well.
  • Stir in flour 1/2 cup at a time.
  • Cover and let rise in warm place until almost doubled – about 2-1/2 hours.
  • Drop dough from spoon into greased muffin-pan cups, filling cups half full.
  • Cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  • Bake at 375º F for 15 minutes.
