Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, bulk
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 onions, medium, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, medium, chopped
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 28 oz can whole tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 6oz can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 4 oz can mushrooms, drained, sliced
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Directions

  • In a large skillet, brown sausage, and beef until no longer pink; drain. Add onion and green pepper cook until tender, about 5 minutes. . Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, water, mushrooms, Italian seasoning, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
     
  • Serve sauce over 1 pkg. (16 oz) hot cooked Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Spaghetti.
