Hodgson Mill Achieves BRC Grade AA in 2016

Commitment to Food Safety and Quality is Part of Company Culture

EFFINGHAM, ILLINOIS – August 1, 2016: Hodgson Mill Inc. has passed its British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification and earned the “AA” rating. The BRC is the leading trade association for UK retailing. Although the BRC food safety standard began in the United Kingdom, it is now recognized as a global standard.

This was Hodgson Mill’s sixth BRC audit. Since the last audit in 2015, a new grade level was introduced by BRC in issue 7, along with redistribution of grading criteria for certification. Only those sites acquiring five or fewer minor non-conformances may now achieve the grade of AA.

“This was a team effort,” says Hope Yingst, Quality Assurance Manager at Hodgson Mill. “The BRC standard is exacting and touches on every department – from our warehouse staff to our creative department to our purchasing down to--and especially--an employee working on a production line. The BRC Certification process has helped us make food safety a part of our company culture.” The audit took place in June 2016 in the Effingham IL facilities.
